Foster Care for
Children
- Provides
temporary care for children in the department’s custody
- Children have
usually been neglected/abused or dependent
- Social Workers
help families make a permanent plan for children in a safe environment
in a timely manner
- Children
awaiting adoptive placement
Recruit, train,
and supervise Foster Parents to assure safe and suitable environment for
children
To
Become A Foster Parent You Must:
Be age 21 or
older.

Be willing to
be fingerprinted and have a criminal records check

Have a stable
home and income
-
Maintain a
drug-free environment

Complete all
training and be licensed by the state of North Carolina
MAPP classes
for Foster Parent training are currently being held on Monday evenings from 6:00
pm to 9:00 pm. They started July 12th and run for 9 weeks. For more

Adoption Services
- Help birth parents with decisions related to care of children
- Find permanent homes for children available for
- adoption
- Assess and complete study of prospective adoptive parents
- Seek families most suited to child’s needs
- Provide adoption assistance to special needs
children
To
Become An Adoptive Parent You Must:
- Choose an adoption
agency
- Submit an
application to adopt a child
- Complete a
pre-placement assessment
- Work with your
social worker to find the right child
- Visit with your
child
- Bring your child
home
- Legalize the
adoption in court
